I recently had occasion to get into a discussion with Richard Partridge (of E-Com 2000 Limited) about computers and the Internet. This led to my trying the eScan free utility tool.
Despite my having the Trend PC Internet Suite on my computer, two instances of the Sober-G virus were detected by eScan on my PC system. A further scan with PC-Cillin still failed to detect them. I have since purchased the full version of eScan
I am impressed with eScans capabilities and with the slick and secure way that it carries out its updates within moments of going online.
Please feel free to publish this testimonial.

I would like to say that I had experienced many problems lately and my computer was infected with numerous virus/adware/spyware infections. I have been using the eScan evaluation software lately and have not experienced any problems since then and I intend to purchase the full version of eScan shortly and can recommend this software to any user experiencing problems with infections. I would add that previously I previously used Norton Anti Virus which failed to detect some of the problems in my PC.

We’re becoming VERY pro this product and it really is knocking the socks off Symantec Norton Anti-virus! We’ve setup a 2000 server in the training room and are currently just working through the mechanics of automatic updates and roll out. We’ll be experimenting with a few customer scenarios so that we can try replacing their Symantec systems. We’re also trying to cancel our own Order of Symantec Corporate.
GREAT PRODUCT!!!!!!!!

What I can say about eScan, is only positive and I enjoy using it! I have worked with different anti virus software in the past and I am an experienced user. I used the evaluation software for 2 weeks and the eScan software protected my PC several times while Norton's Anti Virus skipped viruses... I have now replaced my anti virus software with eScan Professional Edition".

As a 'full-on' user of computer systems and constantly on the Internet I have had to ensure that my virus protection is right up to date and functioning to its fullest.
Recently I was approached by E-Com 2000 Ltd to try eScan from MicroWorld Technologies Inc, and as my system was frequently experiencing virus problems, I decided to give it a go.
Imagine my surprise when, after updating and running the various anti-virus programs currently on my system, I found five undetected viruses/Trojans when I then ran eScan
I was so impressed that I decided to try eScan on the company's system- which was checked 'live' by a well known anti-virus package.
eScan found and delt with, in excess of, 20 viruses /Trojans undetected by the other software
I am convinced that the technology employed by eScan and its use of a Winsock layer makes it the world leader anti-virus package

You can purchase security software that doesn't do its intended job. I have just got back on broad band and even though my system had been fully formated prior to this, I instantly had iffy processes trying to connect. I searched google for these and every forum lead me to you.
Anyways to cut a long story short I downloaded your free utilities and these found some nasties and got rid of them. I hope to purchase your full security suite in the future when finances allow.
MANY THANKS AGAIN.

Hi,
I just thought I should let you know that I am very impressed with eScan. I have completed the review and it will be in the May issue of SACM.
There has been two occasions in the last two days that eScan detected viruses that my other virus scanners did not pick up.
The MWL technology works great.

To Whom it May Concern,
Two months I ask you to extend my trial period for several month which allowed me an opportunity work out some system problems and you said yes. Resulting from my extended period I was able to work out those problems and also better learn the idiosyncrasies of escan ISS 2003.
I have never been more please with a software program but even more important the customer service you have provided to me as a potential client. Not only do you provide a first class product, but you have a first class service group as well. With that kind of team effort, you will always stay on top!
I am a member of your client roster now and have never been more confident that this will be a long standing relationship. Thanks Again.

Thank you very much for letting us know WHY we haven’t been hit. Too often any information that is received is written in technical jargon beyond a layman’s understanding. This email is written in easy to understand general English and is explanatory so even a child can understand the concept of the zipped email file. Thank you for the information.
OH, and thank you for sending it as well… another fault of many business! Not keeping the communication channels open so that consumers know what is going on too. We do worry and tend to think that we may get hit etc. and perhaps our virus product doesn't even recognize that the worm is even there.

This is John Focht and I was wondering when my program, eScan Professional will be up for renewal.
Once I know my renewal date, I will either renew the program, or, is there a better av program you sell or is this one that takes care of E mail as well as Anti Virus programs? As far asI am concerned, eScan is doing very well. It's a great av program! Please let me know of any improvements asap. Thank you. Have a good day!

The following commendation was sent to one of our dealer in the USA - Peter Milne from www.milneweb.com
Re: Anti-Virus: Personal support and help, when needed, is a very big issue with me. After all, I have become very sensitized after dealing with Zone Labs. :) I had Pc Cillin, and I know many like it, and I did before they seriously bloated it... Also, it constantly writes to my hard disk, up to 30 times per second, as part of some type of "security scheme" according to trend micro. Unfortunately, all these disk writes are logged in my GoBack file and take up valuable space that's needed for tracking purposes. Trend says there's no way to reduce or turn it off.
I also tried others, i.e. nod32 among them. I just didn't like either the features or restrictions of some of these programs. Largely preference. Oh, and wrt Nod32, I didn't like 3+ nag screens that popped up during bootup and seemed to interfere with several reboots. I understand they would go away with the paid version, but it irritated me. There were some other issues, but the're partly preference, too.
Then... I responded to Pete Milne's kind post, checked out his product, Escan, and decided to give it a test drive. I really like it. AAMOF, I liked it so much, that it only took me a few hours to decide to buy it. In a nutshell, it's lite, fast, feature rich, uses Kasperky's kernel as the heart of the program, and you can actually talk to a knowledgeable, friendly guy in the process. And, it scans mail at a low level before it reaches your email program, so there's no configuring necessary wrt a particular email client. I'm no computer guru, but I think I understand their low level driver that intercepts baddies before it gets up to the tcp/ip stack. How many AV programs use this low level filtering is something I'm not familiar with, but I perceive this as a plus.
For those who are interested, click on www.milneweb and check it out for yourself... and if you're not interested in computers (then, like why would you be reading this), you can read about Calving and other agricultural pursuits. :) And, as we used to say on the cigar board... "nada" which basically means Pete didn't ask me to say anything, isn't aware that I am, and no remuneration of any kind has been afforded me other than a good product and superlative, personal help.
Hope some of this may be of help to fellow pilgrims looking for firewalls and AVs. :)
Best,
Nathaniel Hummel
p.s. On bootup I used to have 65% free resources, now I have 74-75% free. With all the bells and whistles I feel compelled to hang on my system, this is a big plus for me.

I tried your eScan pro trial edition and liked it so much, that I bought it online. It seemed that part of the things that seemed to come with it that was in the opening credits were things like Window Washer. I just wondered where one was supposed to find these programs and such? I know it was supposed to be a whole package of programs besides just the antivirus. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything.

We have been using eScan (www.mwti.com) since October last year when several of my clients got "hit". Not one of them has been infected with a single virus since then - whether the virus signatures were up to date or not! Let's face it, most viruses these days are e-mail borne, so if you are scanning incoming messages and blocking bad attachments, 99 percent of your troubles will be solved. Around 80 percent of the viruses coming into my machine (but being blocked!) are coming from machines supposedly protected by Norton's Antivirus - says something about that product me thinks! The content management is a real bonus and simple to manage!

We used Norton's AntiVirus software and had a problem with the nimda virus. McAfee's software also wouldn't touch it. After searching the internet for an anti-virus software, I found a solution through your company, and have used it for a year now. Many viruses have tried to hit us, but have failed to penetrate due to the Escan software, while our companies that I work with, uses other software, they are constantly hit with virus. I can't thank you enough for this anti-virus software.

AT the outset I would like to thank you for sending the update details. I have been a staunch supporter of Norton till Jan this year. After started working with Escan I found the product is extremely powerful and started recommending it to all of my customers.
Besides my existing customers have expressed that they are completely satisfied with the Escan and MailScan.
Although I am one of the very small vendors of Microworld I am trying through my network partners to promote these products in a very big manner.
I would also like to extend my appreciation to all your sales team and support team for their unstinted support at every level.

Thank you very much,
I will tell you that I was in the process of purchasing the upgrade of my Norton Anti-Virus, but after your excellent customer service to me and your free download for this problem I will be purchasing your product instead.
By the way the findings showed no infected files, but one "corrupt" file. Pardon my computer ignorance, but I assume that means something different and that it did not involve this particular virus. Is that correct?
Thanks again.

Norton is ok - but we have been using a program called eSCAN for over a year now and it is much better than Norton or McAfee. Norton and Mcafee can cause problems with installations on machines, especially if the windows installations are dirty (been used for a while) - thats why we switched away. I can say for sure, that if you sell Norton to a bunch of people, you are going to get emails/calls from a decent portion of users who will experience lockups, shutdown problems, and GPF's from it. Escan always installs without any problems - and we have installed dozens and dozens of copies on a wide range of PC's.
In fact, I tell customers that if we do work on their PC's, and they want to reinstall Norton or McAfee, they do so at their own risk! eSCAN is such a superior, hassle free product you should really consider it! Plus, it has the best detection methods, superior automated daily updates, and supports many compression schemes (also updated on a regular basis) that are used by virus writers to trick less powerful antivirus applications into letting a infection through.
One thing that is nice about eSCAN is that it scans for a virus before it reaches the application (such as Outlook) - it works on the TCP/IP level - not the application level. Second - the update procedure used is automated, very configurable, and the most seamless in the industry. Mcafee and Norton's update procedures are a hassle to use - and thus - the data file updates never get done by the end user, and infection occurs. In addition, there is a version of the software (MailScan) available for all email servers, either by installation on the server itself or via a smtp gateway.
We use it on all our servers, and stop dozens of infected files every day in their tracks. We also route all our outgoing mail through our MailScan protected servers, and block SMTP (inbound and outbound) access in our routers to all but our MailScan protected email servers - thereby insuring that we never infect a customers machine through our routed email or via directly sent SMTP email originating from a client. Anyways - if you are open to eSCAN - give me a buzz and I can supply more info. We are a reseller - so we could provide you with attractive pricing.
If you would like to try a 30-day fully functional demo of escan, download one of the two following files from our servers:
For Win95/98/ME
ftp://microworld.saratogaweb.com/download/escan/escanv95.exe
For WinNT/2000/XP
ftp://microworld.saratogaweb.com/download/escan/escanvnt.exe
If course, if you are not interested, ignore this message. Otherwise, drop me a line and I can get you more info. But in any case, please considering at least trying the software - it really is the best product available today - its really worth a look.

I just wanted to send a quick note and thanking you,
Your support staff, and developers, for your hard work on eSCAN/MailScan Service Pack 2. It addressed several critical issues and has made my support of the product much easier. For example, Word documents with comments entries that had been altered by the infecting virus would cause very slow load times with service pack 1 - while service pack 2 did not have such difficulties.
In addition, the way that files with multiple extensions (or multiple . in the file name) were troublesome until SP2.
In any case, thank you for your continued efforts in improving the product. It is well on its way of becoming the new defacto standard for virus protection - all due to your hard work and dilligance.

I have had a week of hell knowing I had a virus but being unable to locate it. I received notification of it and using Mcafee anti virus software detected but I could not remove it. I have phoned and phoned for assistance and was advised to remove all my software and start again.
Thankfully I searched the virus again and found your website. I had sircam virus and your removal tool located and removed it. I didn't quite believe that so went back into programs I knew were infected and I didn't get the Mcafee 'virus detected' warning. Still a disbeliever I went back to your site and used the tool again and it informed me that there was no sircam detected on my pc. You have made my day. I was really stressing about it and now I am just so happy. Unfortunately the rest of my household are asleep so I can't run around yelling out 'it's gone'!!!!
I'll now have a good look at the rest of your website and your products.
Kind regards,
Theresa Barnett.

I am honestly impressed with the program, many virus scanners make all manner of claims but I have never been one to believe all I read and I make my mind up by using my own judgement.
I shouldn't really pull other AV scanners apart but one comes to mind which is a monster in my opinion, Norton is huge, it eats system resources like no other AV app I know and in my experience of working for the Windows 95 help team many years ago, it just doesn't do the job.
I found Elia-Shim while I was on Windows 3.11 and have stayed with them with Elia-Shim AV through all versions of eSafe up to now a relationship which lasted for 7 years or more with one AV scanner. It was good, and still is but it has become far too aggressive when it comes to stopping Active X and Java on my system. I use my machine for online banking and my bank uses Java a lot for security controls, with eSafe running I can no longer access the bank. Shut eSafe down and no Java or Active X will run until I re-boot. I see their idea but it is a little over the top.
Now eScan allows me to access my bank without any problems and the only problem I have got with it is outgoing mail with Turnpike, with RitLabs The Bat mail client it has no problems whatsoever.
I have used The Bat for a lot of years and prior to that I was with Turnpike when it first came out in the old Win 3,11 days. I was with Demon Internet then and Turnpike was eventually bought by Demon. I bought a user license to allow me to use Turnpike on other ISP's when I left Demon for pastures new (big mistake) Anyway I moved my ISP from BT Internet a week or so ago and I decided rather than have a dialler, mail app, news app and various other bits floating around I would go back to Turnpike which has the lot in one package, including ping, finger, tracrt, time setting, call logging, PGP and more.
found eScan and loaded it and all was fine until I tried to move mail out with Turnpike. I am not deterred one bit by this little setback as I suspect it may be the way in which Turnpike works that is throwing the program.
I have no doubt at all your software engineers will find a way around it and I am already telling friends of mine what a program it is and a few have come back with comments about how it scans all mail in which many apps do not do until the mail is actually sat in a folder somewhere but you seem to do that job at the winsock level or quite close to it.
I won't knock eSafe as it has been a good and very reliable program over many years but it is no longer of use for how I use the Internet. The aggressive blocking of code will be of use to new users as they will be fully protected. For novice users I still think eSafe is a good bet but for people like myself who need to access sites with a lot of Java enabled screens it no longer works as I need it to, whereas eScan does exactly what I want.
Keep up the good work you have there a great program and one that any user these days should not be without.
Best regards,
Mike.

I do like the eScan program though and I will be buying a copy as it seems to work exactly as I want it to work. All mail is checked as it arrives, it is careful with Java and ActiveX controls but not as eSafe was getting, over careful and it's blocking, has over the last year or so, become very aggressive. I do all my banking online and a lot of other work and the sites I use make use of a very large amount of java and activeX for their security. eSafe, although a superb program and one I have put my faith into for many years (Elia-Shim prior to eSafe) is just too aggressive when it comes to these sites. It tends to block me completely and once it's done that I have to re-boot to be able to get back on the site again with eSafe turned off completely, something I do not like to do in this day and age. However eScan allows me to access my sites with no alteration in the setup but it seems to catch everything nasty coming in here. I have already mentioned it to some friends and you can rest assured I will be mentioning eScan a lot more in the very near future. I am even prepared to stay back here in The Bat and dump Turnpike, which I just purchased as I no longer have an account with Demon Internet who let their users have it for free.

Hello MicroWorld,
last Thursday (04/26!) I caught my first virus in about 16 years of computing: a partner in a software development project sent me a CIH-infected program file. I thought mails from him to be safe... bad idea!
To keep it short: your eScan's CIHReco.exe helped me to recover my damaged partitions and saved every bit of my valuable data. Thank you very, very much!
If I can help you with anything in return, please let me know!
Best regards,
Jost Nickel.

Dear Sirs,
e-scan -Antivirus & content security software
I would like to thank e-scan for reducing my head-aches as an information Department head. I also handle international marketing of our textile division.
Whenever in the past I was out of the country, our systems were down for 1 or 2 days due to virus.
From the day we installed e-scan in our LAN, virus is not a threat to us anymore.
The product can be learnt easily and administered comfortably.
I recommend this product, developed by Indians and promoted by Indians.
I wish you virus free enviroment.
Sincerely,
Krishna Moorthi
